It was so great to see everyone at our Grooves in the Grass event yesterday! Thanks to the leadership of our emcee Luke West and Soozie Selfridge, we served hundreds of hot dogs, painted dozens of faces, and celebrated our talented neighbors as they serenaded us from the Harper Park Pavillion!

(Extra thanks to Soozie and family, who cooked and wrapped hot dogs for all of us!)
Bravo to the students of Westwood High School and North Austin School of Music, and our headliner JJP Band - y'all rock, literally!

Thank you also to our wonderful sponsors who donated raffle items, including North Austin School of Music, Thundercloud Subs, and Dart 'Em Up - you help make our community great!

We also had amazing community partners in Parents and Students for Arts Education, Emler Swim School, A Book I'd Lend You, Fannie's Farm Friends, Paws on Death Row, and an extra-special-shout-out to our friends at The Learning Experience Preschool for providing snacks, face painting, and bottles of water to our hundreds of neighbors who turned out!

Dedicated volunteers help preserve and operate the mill, sharing its history while hosting tours, community gatherings, and special activities throughout the year. It’s a unique opportunity to experience one of the landmarks that helped shape our community.
Free public tours are offered on the fourth Sunday of each month, March through October, from 2–5 PM.

Summer Safety Tip: Try the what3words App
Planning summer adventures off the beaten path? The free what3words app can help you stay safe.
The app divides the world into 3-meter (10-foot) squares and gives each square a unique three-word address, such as ///table.chair.lamp. This makes it easy to share an exact location — whether you’re on a hiking trail, out on the lake, in a park, or somewhere without a clear street address.
The app is especially useful for helping first responders quickly locate someone in an emergency. It also works offline, supports multiple languages, and is available for smartphones and wearable devices.
