Meet Luke West: Musician, Engineer, Neighbor, and MC For Grooves in the Grass

By Drew Castillo

As Vice President and Communications Director for the Anderson Mill Neighborhood Association, my favorite part of the job is meeting the incredible people who make our community thrive. This week, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Luke West, the MC for our upcoming community concert.

Luke, a software developer and local musician, has been in the neighborhood for five years. From hosting weekly "Taco Tuesdays" with his cul-de-sac to gathering neighbors on his front patio for happy hours, Luke is all about fostering connection. "We absolutely love everything about the community," he shared with me.

His passion for bringing people together is exactly what sparked his dedication to our upcoming event. When Luke first moved in, he immediately noticed two things he wanted to see: more trees and a concert in the park. "I discovered that there's not actually a great performance area," Luke explained. He envisioned "having a space that any of the local musicians could get up and play at." When the call went out for volunteers to help organize a community concert, Luke immediately raised his hand to help make that dream happen.

Now, that vision is a reality! Join us this Sunday, May 17, for Grooves in the Grass at the Harper Park Pavilion. While Luke joked that he might just be "flipping hot dogs" instead of busting out his trumpet or flugelhorn, he will be front and center keeping the energy high as our MC!

Let's celebrate our community, enjoy some great tunes from our local acts, and make this a Sunday to remember!
