Hello Anderson Mill!

June has arrived, school is out, and summer is officially underway! It's time for pool days, family vacations, backyard barbecues, and making memories with friends and neighbors. Whether you're planning a road trip, spending afternoons at the Anderson Mill Pool, or simply enjoying longer days and warmer evenings, we hope your summer is off to a fantastic start. Be sure to check out the events, activities, and community news in this month's newsletter.

A special thank you to everyone who joined us for the Groove’s in the Grass Concert on May 17. It was wonderful to see so many neighbors gathered together to enjoy great music, visit with friends, and celebrate our community. Events like these are possible because of the support of our members, volunteers, sponsors, and attendees. We appreciate everyone who helped make the evening such a success and look forward to seeing you at future neighborhood events.

Save the Date! Make an Olla for Your Garden

📅 Sunday, June 29

🕓 4:00 PM

📍 Harper Park Pavilion

Looking for a simple way to keep your plants watered during the hot Texas summer? Join the Anderson Mill Gardening Club and learn how to make an olla, an ancient irrigation tool that slowly releases water directly to plant roots.

An olla is made from unglazed clay pots buried in the soil near your plants. Filled with water, it gradually seeps moisture into the surrounding soil exactly where plants need it most. Ollas help conserve water, reduce evaporation, and keep plants healthier between waterings.

Example ollas from the Chicago Gardeners Club

They are especially useful for:

  • Vegetable gardens and flower beds
  • Newly planted shrubs and perennials
  • Areas that sprinkler systems don't reach well
  • Gardeners looking to reduce water use

We'll be making ollas that you can take home and use in your own garden. This is a fun, hands-on project and a great opportunity to learn more about water-wise gardening.

Want to see how ollas work? Watch this informative video from Central Texas Gardener and discover why so many Texas gardeners are adding them to their landscapes.

RSVP to Katina to reserve your spot.

We hope to see you there!

AMLD Board of Directors Election Results

👏🏽Congratulations to Mike Chaney and Trevor Mazer on their reelection to the Anderson Mill Limited District Board of Directors in the May 2nd Election!

Mike Chaney was reelected to Place 4, and Trevor Mazer was reelected to Place 5. Both will serve four-year terms and continue their work on behalf of the Anderson Mill community.

We thank Mike and Trevor for their commitment to serving our neighborhood and wish them success in the years ahead!

Grand Reopening of the Anderson Mill Pool

🏊The Anderson Mill Limited District celebrated the grand reopening of the Anderson Mill Pool with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and free community swim on May 30.

The pool is ready for a fun-filled summer season thanks in part to the generous support of Lowe’s. As part of its commitment to providing safe and accessible community spaces, Lowe’s Northwest Austin coordinated donations from four Austin-area stores, supplying tools, paint, materials, fixtures, and volunteer labor to help improve the facility.

Lowe's contributions saved the Anderson Mill Limited District more than $10,000 in project costs while helping enhance a valuable community amenity - thank you, we appreciate it!

Beginning May 25, the pool will operate under its summer schedule.

AM Limited District Board of Directors Meeting

📅Thursday, June 11

🕡6:30 PM

📍11500 El Salido Parkway

You’re invited to attend the AM Limited District Board of Directors Meeting. Feel free to take part in the Citizen Communication portion of the meeting or just listen to what your neighbors have to say. This is a great opportunity to share your thoughts and speak directly with the board that guides our community.

To see what topics will be discussed, you can view the meeting agenda here: https://amld.org/bod-meetings

One important topic will be a discussion on the process for appointing a new Board Member as Katherine Hogle steps down. We welcome Nikki Hinkle as the new Board President and encourage our members to consider attending this important meeting to understand how these changes could impact our neighborhood, and how you might be able to support the district during this transitionary period.
