Hello Anderson Mill Neighbors!

Summer has arrived in Central Texas, bringing plenty of sunshine, heat, and humidity! As we head into the hottest months of the year, it’s a great time to think about ways to help our gardens thrive while conserving water.

🪴The Anderson Mill Garden Club invites Garden Club members (and any AMNA members interested in learning more about gardening) to join us on Sunday, June 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Harper Park Pavilion for a fun hands-on meeting where we will make ollas. These traditional clay watering vessels are a simple and effective way to provide slow, steady moisture directly to plant roots, helping gardens stay healthier while using less water.

Example ollas from the Chicago Gardeners Club

All materials will be provided. The cost is $10 per olla. Please bring cash or check. Supplies are limited so an RSVP is required by contacting Katina at amnagardenclub@gmail.com

June Yard of the Month Winner

June 2026 Yard of the Month Winner:  12116 Wander Ln

🥇Congratulations to 12116 Wander Ln, AMNA’s June 2026 Yard of the Month winner! The garden is a wonderful example of how beautiful and beneficial a yard can be.

The owner loves growing a variety of vegetables along with native plants that support our local pollinators. She also enjoys sharing her gardening knowledge and chatting with neighbors who stop by to ask questions. Adding even more charm to her garden is a small pond home to several large koi fish!

When planning what to plant and where, she recommends checking out resources from Texas A&M and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and paying close attention to how sunlight affects each area of your yard. Her gardening philosophy is simple: plant plants where they want to be!

Thank you for creating a beautiful space that inspires our neighborhood and helps support nature!

Director Nikki Hinkle will step up and serve as the new AMLD Board President

At the June 11 AMLD Board meeting, the process for appointing a new Board member was discussed. Do You Know the Difference Between AMNA and AMLD?

❓We know it can be confusing! Although the names are very similar, the Anderson Mill Neighborhood Association (AMNA) and the Anderson Mill Limited District (AMLD) are two separate organizations that serve our community in different ways.

Anderson Mill Neighborhood Association (AMNA) is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit organization led by residents and focused on connecting neighbors and strengthening our community. AMNA organizes community activities and educational programs such as gardening workshops, the Grooves in the Grass Concert, the Yard of the Month Award, and the AM Garden Club.

Anderson Mill Limited District (AMLD) is a local government entity that provides and manages essential community services. AMLD oversees services such as securing our solid waste provider, maintaining neighborhood parks and pools, and enforcing deed restrictions. AMLD also provides resident programs including after-school care, summer camps, and, most recently, yoga classes.

While AMNA and AMLD are separate organizations, they work together on projects that benefit Anderson Mill. Most recently, the two organizations partnered on two Urban Forest Grants, which will result in more than 100 trees being planted in neighborhood parks and trails by the end of 2026.

Together, these organizations help make Anderson Mill a great place to live!

District 6 Emergency Preparedness Popup

📅Wednesday, June 17th

🕒3PM - 6PM

📍Spicewood Springs Library - 8637 Spicewood Springs Rd.

🧯Austin Emergency Management (AEM) hosts monthly pop-up events at branches of the Austin Public Library. AEM invites other public safety departments and non-government organizations to the pop-ups to promote public awareness and provide safety tips to prepare for various emergencies.

Preparedness materials and other presenters may be catered to highlight and educate on specific emergencies that may be more likely to strike the area of that month's event, like wildfire or flooding.

The first 25 attendees receive a basic emergency preparedness kit (limit one per household)!

Borrow bike tools from the Spicewood Springs Library!

🚲The Austin Public Library and Austin Transportation and Public Works are piloting a brand-new Bike Tool Loan Program at nine libraries: Spicewood Springs, Central, Cepeda, Hampton, Howson, John Gillum, Pleasant Hill, Twin Oaks, and Windsor Park.

Each branch will be equipped with everything you need for quick fixes and everyday maintenance, including a bike-repair stand and either on-stand tools or a Bike Tool Kit. You can check out with your library card or ID. Pumps and patch kits will also be available, making it easy to keep your ride rolling smoothly.

Over the next year, the program will track how the tools are used, host community events like Bike Fix-It Clinics, and explore whether the service should expand to additional branches.

Swing by a participating branch and check out this new library service - your next tune-up might be just a library visit away!
