# National Night Out - Party Hosts Needed!

Knowing your neighbors is more than just a friendly wave when you pass by — it builds a sense of trust, safety, and belonging that makes a community stronger. When we know the people around us, we look out for one another, share resources, and create a network of support that’s there when it matters most. Hosting a **National Night Out block party** is a perfect way to take that first step. By opening your street or yard for a simple gathering — whether it’s a potluck, cookout, or ice cream social — you help create opportunities for connections that last long after the event is over. **Your party does not have to be on October 7, any date in October will be fine.** Don't want to host alone? Find a neighbor or two to host with you. Stepping up to host isn’t just about throwing a party; it’s about strengthening the bonds that keep our neighborhood safe, welcoming, and inviting.

**Step Three:** Register your party with [www.natw.org](http://www.natw.org/?ref=andersonmillna.org), National Association of Town Watch. You will receive a free guide and coordinator's tool kit by signing up!
